What to consider when choosing a termination box
Choosing the right box depends on more than port count. Consider capacity, environmental conditions, mounting method and connection compatibility together.
1. Capacity and connection layout
Determine the number of fibers to terminate and the adapter types. Check the space needed for splice trays, pigtails and splitters, and plan for future expansion.
2. Application environment
Indoor, outdoor and underground applications have different protection requirements. Compare the stated protection rating, cable entries and installation instructions with operating conditions.
3. Installation and maintenance access
Consider mounting accessories, the space needed to open the box and access to connections. Arrange cables to respect the fibers’ bend-radius limits.
4. Components used together
The box itself does not split optical signals; a suitable splitter performs this function. Check adapter, connector and splitter compatibility separately. Do not mix SC/APC and SC/UPC connections.
